Quick s’mores quantity formula
Multiply the number of guests by the number of s’mores you plan to serve each person. Each classic s’more normally needs:
- One marshmallow
- Two biscuit pieces
- One suitable chocolate portion
For example, six guests having two s’mores each means planning for 12 marshmallows, 24 biscuit pieces and 12 chocolate portions.
How many s’mores should you allow per person?
- One each: a light treat after another meal.
- Two each: a useful starting point for most family nights and parties.
- Three each: suitable for a longer evening or when s’mores are the main sweet activity.
Children’s appetites and portion needs vary. An attentive adult should supervise all flames, hot equipment and skewers, and ingredient labels should always be checked for allergens and age suitability.

How many marshmallows do I need for 10 people?
For two s’mores each, start with 20 marshmallows. Add a small reserve if s’mores are the main activity or guests are likely to want another.
How many biscuits do I need?
Allow two biscuit pieces per s’more. Twenty s’mores therefore need 40 suitably sized biscuit pieces.
Should I open every ingredient before guests arrive?
Prepare enough for the first round and keep the remaining ingredients sealed until needed. This keeps the serving area tidier and makes ingredient labels available for anyone checking allergens.
